What you'll fly

Real bush flying, safely

  • Short and unpaved strips

Approaches and landings on grass, murram and gravel airstrips, the way East African bush pilots fly every day.

  • Game-park airstrips

Fly into the Masai Mara, Laikipia or Amboseli, with runway checks for wildlife before every landing.

  • High, hot and heavy

Learn how altitude, heat and load change take-off and climb performance on Kenya's highland strips.

  • Weather and terrain

Plan around afternoon build-ups, escarpments and the Rift Valley, with local knowledge passed on in the cockpit.

How it works

From briefing to logbook

  1. Tell us about you

Your licence, ratings, recent hours and the kind of flying you'd like to do.

  2. Plan and brief

We plan the route and airstrips with you and brief you on the aircraft, procedures and local rules.

  3. Fly

You fly. Your safety pilot sits beside you as pilot in command and can take over at any time.

  4. Debrief

A full debrief after landing, with your flight recorded in line with your licensing rules.

Before you fly

What to bring

Fly-yourself trips are for licensed pilots. Bring your documents so we can confirm what you're able to fly.

Plan my flight

  • Licence and medical

Your pilot licence (PPL or higher) and a current medical certificate. Foreign licences are welcome; we'll explain what KCAA requires for your flight.

  • Logbook and ID

Your logbook and passport or national ID.

  • Aircraft

Usually the Cessna 182 or 206, both ideal for short-strip flying. Bring family or friends along in the spare seats.
